First Impressions are Lasting Impressions
- Make sure your front entrance is clean and inviting
- Paint front door if needed
- Put potted plants/wreath near door
- Check walkway for rotted wood, weeds, cracked bricks
- Weed and mulch gardens
- Check condition of driveway and mailbox
- Touch up any peeling paint on shutters, trim
- Make sure leaves are raked and grass mowed
- In inclement weather make sure the walkway, stairs are shoveled/salted

- Have all windows washed inside and out
- Have carpets shampooed
- Repair faded wallpaper and glue any areas that have come away from the wall.
- Repair worn woodwork
- Repaint scarred or dirty walls in a neutral color
- Repair minor flaws
- Check and repair caulking in bathtubs and showers
Some Serious Considerations
- Have furnace serviced
- Have septic cleaned if it hasn’t been done in the last two years
- Have chimney cleaned if due
- If there is an underground oil tank, have it removed prior to listing
- Have any mold conditions evaluated by an expert
- Make sure you have COs for any work done to the house

- Open the drapes, turn on lights during showings
- Remove all unnecessary clutter from your attic, basement, closets, garage
- Arrange all rooms neatly and remove excess furniture
- Use candles or air fresheners to make the house smell pleasant
